Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient treatment art that originated in China over 5,000 years ago. Today’s professional acupuncture methods are grounded in science and used as treatments for a wide variety of common conditions. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body, which may help stimulate the release of natural pain relieving chemicals. The needles may be warmed, twirled, or stimulated to enhance the treatment benefits. Acupuncture is an alternative treatment for pain associated with sciatica, chronic pain, headaches, low back pain, neck pain, and muscle tension.

Acupuncture is safe and sterile. Our licensed acupuncturists at Boca Orthopedic and Rehabilitation will thoroughly explain the procedure before your treatment. We use only sterile needles that are disposed of after each use. The needles are very fine and do not need to be inserted very deep at all to be effective. You may feel a mild prick when the needle is inserted. Most people find acupuncture to be a painless and relaxing experience.
